Clean, yes...Die, no!

Clean, yes...Die, no!

Ever since I saw a few tv episodes of some people that couldnt breathe, it made me realize that the lungs are our lifeline to health, and what we breathe in
affects us to the n'th degree..
Well, they were not cleaning in these episodes, but having some personal experience with some of this makes me want to talk about it.

I would like to caution those of you out there who maybe are cleaning your bathrooms, kitchens, etc without a window open, or using various chemicals for cleaning, to be SURE and have plenty of VENTILATION to go along when using this stuff..
"Oh no," you say,"This stuff isnt dangerous"...well it probably is-more than you realize..Thank goodness the human body has the ability to rejuvinate it self somewhat, but there are limits as to what can be repaired, so we must
minimize our exposure to harmful pollutants, and in this case, I am reffering to common household items that we use for cleaning...just because we buy them at the store, doesnt mean they are totally "safe"
Most of them we can get by with if we use a mask and have a window or a door open, but minus that, we can get into real trouble with repeated uses...I dont want to mention any products by name... but certain carpet cleaning solutions, scouring powders, room fresheners, germ removers, bowl cleaners, etc... all of this stuff can really take a toll if not used properly, leading to diminished lung capacity, brain and liver damage, possible cancer or parkinsons down the road... and
other serious ailments...
PLease be careful, and dont expose yourself or your kids(and even pets) to cleaning compounds that can take a toll on ya...IT is more serious than you think...
Add this to smoking, (and I know a lot of you do out there) it can reallly be bad!(Stop Smoking!, get Nicorette or something)
PLease use harsh cleaning chemicals as directed, and have PLENTY of open air! "What the World Needs Now" is oxygen, plenty of it...

Weenieism

In talk's with my gf today, over the 3 tv networks all trying to present seperate nyc concerts on their respective morning shows, i said "thats weenieism"
so, I coined a new phrase "weenieism" 3 seperate concerts all at the same time by the 3 networks: Black Eyed Peas, Carrie Underwood, and Cyndi Lauper.

"Weenieism":when corporate
companies try to copy each other..

Quote from an old movie

Quote from an old movie
"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"

Butch Cassidy: Alright. I'll jump first.
Sundance Kid: No.
Butch Cassidy: Then you jump first.
Sundance Kid: No, I said.
Butch Cassidy: What's the matter with you?
Sundance Kid: I can't swim.
Butch Cassidy: Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you.
Sundance Kid: Oh, s**t...

Enjoy Food

As you enter easterly into Palm Springs on the Sonny Bono Highyway, just at the edge of town visit Rick's Restaurant..its near the old Palm Court Inn, and old motel from the early 60's where many groovies stayed during their time..
It's a great place to have a meal as you are entering, leaving, or just hanging around!!
This message was not solicited from Rick's, it is just one of my own favorite places!

Bon a Petite!

Remember the Fun in Playing Records?

Ah, the great days of playing vinyl records...they spun around
like a spinning top..the most fun were the 45's, cause they
didnt spin to fast or too slow, and you could watch the label
go around, and still more or less read it.
The 78's were fun when they were stacked, especially when the
auto player changed the record, this happened quickly, based on the gearing or speed of the changer.
in fact it was manic...
The most fun was having phonograph or record players that had
auto changers on them. you could stack many ot the 78s
or 45.s at least 6 or 7, and watch as they changed, dropped down and started playing
It was more or less a low tech way of programming the music..
And...whilst we listened to some of our favorite 45's be it
Beatles, Beach Boys, Elvis, or whatever, we also could gaze at
some of our picture sleeves sitting near by with the the artists
picture on it..
i remember JAck Scott, he had this manic look in the pose of his body and face..Im sure it was one of his early hits.
Also, there was Elvis, The Dave Clark 5, The Supremes, etc. many of them had
picture sleeves.athat were 7" in size
Now,today, aside from the excellent sound quality.. the little
cd's we have are deficient in a couople of areas.
1. the size
no room for poster or cover art, and
2. we dont get to see the discs spin around..
plus there are so many songs on them, our old discs only had one or 2 at the most..
(there was the "ep" a 45 with 2 on each side)
the cd yet another form of miniaturization..

Ive yet to get myself a good 45 changer from rca that is in
working condition, or a good auto changer from the early 60s
Sometimes the tone arm was so heavy it cut its own groove, but
what the hey!~
I do remember "borrowing some old 78's from our local library
(Victor Young and his orchestra,) but aIso remember sitting on
them and breaking them, then trying to explain to our librarian
what happened..
I think I was 12.

Fascinating World of Scottish Chat

Sometimes, given the tools or the ability to see how people
in other countries speak their form of english,
I go on some foreign chat lines to observe...

Aye, today I went into one of the Scottish Chat Rooms and
it was a whole new world - trying to decipher the lingo.
Most of the locals have a distinct way of talking, this is not to say
that they all talk like this on there, but some of the
"homeies" give chat in a distinct manner"
Ive copied a few phrases for ya, and then folowing that, ive more or
less explained what I think they mean..
here are a few:

ah cannae help it (I cannot help it)
cas a dont gee a flit (cause i dont care)
really wen am listin tae people like u(really, when I'm listenin' to people like you)
wen am ready tae when im ready too(when I'm ready to, When I'm ready to.)
u really want to know who am are(ya really want to know who i am)
can I play wa u again perry(can I play with you again, Perry?)
ats eh best way(thats the best way)
u ready tae go bk in the bin(you ready to go back in the (iggy)bin?
no sure?(not sure)
u widnae want tae eat oot(YOu wouldn't want to eat out)

canny be any worse than the chippy i got ma hamburger oot(can it be
worse than the chippy I got my hamburger out?)
a wiz gonna launch the thing( iwas going to lanch the thing)
a wanted tae listen tae ma tunes(I wanted to listen to my tunes)

It's not so hard to figure it out after awhile, but trying to imitate their lingo would be a bt harder.
Anyway, as The Sundance Kid said in the movie to Butch-"I thought secretly you wanted to know"
(about the world of Scottish Chat.) :)

I know a person who was in Ireland for a long time on a job assignment,
and when he came back he drove me on the streets, but started going on
the wrong side of the road(he caught himself quickly..i guess it was
his brain trying to reinterpet right hand driving(kind of dangerous it
was, scared the b-jeebers outta me!

SPOTLIGHT ON ONE HIT WONDERS And CHANGING GROUP MEMBERS

SPOTLIGHT ON ONE HIT WONDERS And CHANGING GROUP MEMBERS

Todays blog is a discussion on some of the "one hit wonders"
and changing group members of famous groups....IN case you don't know
the term...it means someone or some group that had one hit song, and
could not duplicate the chart success, even tho they released more
material...

ON my mind is a group who recently toured with a friend of mine..MOises
Melchoir of Los rhythm Rockets out of Los Angeles. They recently did a
stint in Spain with "The Bobbettes" a girl group who had one hit with
a song called Mr. Lee..
Having had the hit way back when, the group nameThe Bobettes" generated
enough of an I.d. for the group (who probably only has one original
member left, if any)for them to perpetually tour for the next hundred years..

Even worse, in my opinion, are the "Big" groups of the 50's and 60's
who had a revolving door as far as their personnel was concerned.
One of the biggest offenders was The Drifters...It got to where their
manager George Treadwell took legal action to "incorporate" the name,
and thus was able to control the rights to the group, hiring and firing
as he chose fit. NOt only that, but even with this legal action of
"owning" the intellectual property of the name "Drifters", there were
and are what we call "Splinter Groups" and/or Fake groups roaming
around the contryside doing concerts claiming to be "The Drifters"
It would not be unusual at any given time, to have several of thses
Drifter groups roaming the countryside...and so, on an unsuspecting
public, as long as a Drifters group showed up...looked and sounded
reasonably like the record, folks think they got to hear the great
Drifters! Huh?
Yeah...crazy..Other groups like this are the the Coasters and The
PLatters. In the latter case, only one original member is left,
their bass singer becoming now the lead singer...(Herb Reed)
I guess because so much time has gone by and many or most of the groups
members being dead, this would be a natural evolution, but it was not
so in the late 60s and 70s..plenty of rogue groups romaing around at
that time..

Alas,I assume its not a big deal for most, as long as they remember
the name of the group, and reminisce about their younger days...got
to a concert and see and hear a group, any group...with "the correct
name"...this satisfies their nostalgia...

Steveo
A realated story
A person who was very smart businesswise from the very beginning was
Mrs. Jerry Lewis..(PAtti Lewis)When her son Gary decided to form a
group, she seeked out legal councel and incorporated the name of
Gary Lewis and The PLayboys, forming a production company Esta music..
thus, each member of the group were "employees" and were paid as such,
with the inability to control any part of the entity..Gary had his
first hit in early 1965 with This Diamond Ring, but by the end of
1965 only one or 2 original members of the group were left...
Soon thereafter, again, group members became a revolving door...
When researching the original group, there is not much to go by, as
it lists the orignal members, but they were not arond long enough to
build any type of bio history.
